You can invest directly in any of these indexes through mutual funds or exchange traded funds. (see page 146).

No index covers every publicly traded company. There are thousands of small corporations that are referred to as penny stocks, pink-sheet stocks, or bulletin-board stocks that trade over the counter, or OTC. If a NASDAQ stock falls below $1.00 for 9 months, it is de-listed and sent to the pink sheets (before the NASDAQ, OTC stock listings were printed on pink sheets).
